The Truth of Birthlessness

Knowledge of the Truth of Birthlessness (Mushobonin) is a technical term in Shinshu for that Insight granted by the Buddha in which one realizes that since there is no self, the formless and universal Consciousness has never been born and so can never die. After the death-in-life of the individual ego that never really existed, the true after-life can begin here and now. By that Birthless Dharma-Light it can be seen that this one miraculous day is preserved forever without change in the 'undying store' of the Alaya-vijnana, in the Cosmic Memory that lies beyond any transient memory of mine. For as the Buddhist proverb puts it: Goshu wa daiji - the next life is the main thing.
